District’s Colleges Award Nearly 4,600 Degrees and Certificates

Congratulations to the students who earned more than 4,700 degrees and certificates at SMCCCD Colleges during the 2018-2019 academic year. 

The fast facts below are only a small snapshot of the diversity and caliber of our graduates.  This milestone in their lives will pay off professionally, personally and financially for them as they are being prepared for the jobs of today and the careers of tomorrow.

  • 15 bachelor’s degrees were awarded (for Respiratory Care program at Skyline College)
  • 2,908 associate degrees were awarded
  • 1,781 certificates were awarded
  • The youngest graduate was 16 years old
  • The oldest graduate was 76 years old
  • 233 international students from 44 different countries earned degrees and certificates
  • 120 out-of-state students earned degrees and certificates
  • 130 veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces earned degrees and certificates
  • 117 DACA/Dreamer/AB540 students earned degrees and certificates
  • 1,568 graduates were first generation college students
  • 15 foster youth earned degrees and certificates
  • 901 graduates earned honors status (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude)
