Associate Degrees, Transfer and Certificate Programs
San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley offer Associate Degrees, Transfer Programs and short-term Certificate Programs. Associate Degrees and Transfer Programs typically take two years to finish as students need to complete all necessary graduation and/or transfer requirements (up to 60 degree applicable units/credits) with a required Grade Point Average (GPA). Cañada College and Skyline College offer admission to short-term certificate programs. Summer Academy Advising to Elite Universities
As part of the College University Partnership (CUP) founded by UC Berkeley and our colleges, international high school students can now receive personalized evaluation, advising and support for applying to world-class 2019 summer programs at UC Berkeley or Stanford University. Research shows when students receive individualized assessment and course counseling, they avoid many costly mistakes and increase their success in fulfilling their academic goals.
Once assessed for eligibility by CUP advisors, students will be encouraged to apply for admission to UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and/or Stanford Summer Session. Pre-screening through CUP does not guarantee admission as admissions decisions are at sole discretion of the respective institution.
Summer courses taken at either university can transfer to San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley.
Existing students at San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley who are on track to apply for transfer to top American universities can also apply to attend the summer sessions without the requirement to live on campus.
For information on admission requirements and CUP advising for these two elite universities’ 2019 summer programs, please visit UC Berkeley website or http://www.smccd.edu/international/berkeleystanford
Intensive English Language Programs
Students who apply to a San Mateo College of Silicon Valley and have met all of our admission requirements, with the exception of the English proficiency requirement, may choose to enroll in the Silicon Valley Intensive English Program.
The Silicon Valley Intensive English Program (SVIEP) at Cañada College and Skyline College offers students high-quality English instruction on our College campuses while having access to the same support services available to regular students. Students who successfully complete the program will be guaranteed admission into one of our three colleges, (Cañada College, College of San Mateo, Skyline College). For more information please see here.
If enrolled in one of our partner English language schools, students will receive a conditional letter of admission from the San Mateo College of Silicon Valley. When students complete the required level at our partner language school, we will issue the acceptance letter.List of Proficiency Requirements
High School Counselor Residency Program
We are offering a High School Counselor Residency Program for professionals from around the world to meet and gain valuable training from July 16-25, 2018. The 10-day residency includes tours, presentations, and opportunities to shadow certain departments at our three colleges: College of San Mateo, Skyline College, and Cañada College. Campus tours and office meetings will be arranged for UC Berkeley and Stanford as well. Lodging accommodation will be provided for all 10 days of the residency, except that transportation and meals will not be provided during the dates of July 20-22 when high school residency is not in session.
The deadline to sign up is April 20th and applicants will be notified of our decision on April 30th. Due to the limited number of spots available, we can only accept one counselor per school and unfortunately, we are not able to provide an invitation for everyone. If interested, please fill out the application at https://sanmateocolleges.wufoo.com/forms/high-school-summer-residency/. For this year, EducationUSA advisers and U.S. Commercial Services specialists are also invited to apply. Please email our coordinator, Cindy Nguyen, at firstname.lastname@example.org for a separate application if you are an EducationUSA Adviser or a U.S. Commercial Service Officer.
