District wide Interior and Exterior Painting Unit Price Contract

Project Description:

The San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) is issuing a call for bids for future interior and exterior painting at the District, using the unit price concept to price and award future painting work. Prior to the bidding phase, C-33 Painting and Decorating Contractors will submit a qualification package and be qualified by the District. The qualification package must be completed digitally and will be used by the District to pre-assess C-33 contractors. The pool of qualified C-33 contractors will be the only contractors allowed to bid on the Unit Price scope of work.

The Work generally consists of campus wide interior and exterior painting projects with scopes to range from single rooms to entire buildings or multiple buildings at the San Mateo County Community College District, which includes Skyline College in San Bruno, College of San Mateo in San Mateo, Cañada College in Redwood City, and the District Administration Building in San Mateo. The selected contractor will perform the future work on an “on call” basis, as needed by the District. Pricing for scopes of work will be based on Unit Price Contract concept, where Contractor measures the requested scope, provides a proposal applying their unit prices and then executes the scope of work for specific unit prices, as bid.

The District is interested in working with highly qualified painting contractors who have a demonstrated history of working on occupied educational, hospital or corporate campuses. At a minimum, the District requires a bonded, licensed contractor, experienced in applying paints and coatings similar in material, design, and extent to those indicated for this Bid and whose work has resulted in applications with a record of successful in-service performance. Each qualified contractor will maintain a crew of painters throughout duration of the work who shall be qualified to fully satisfy the requirements of the District. Each contractor will employ only qualified journeymen in this painting and decorating work; employ apprentices on the project to work under the direction of qualified journeymen, in accordance with the Labor Code regulations. SMCCCD is looking for seasoned painters that go well beyond the minimum requirements.

Project Benefits:

The Interior and Exterior Painting Unit Price Contract allows the District flexibility to execute painting work over the contract term.
