Best Practice Award - HVAC Design for Building 36 Science Center and Planetarium

The San Mateo County Community College District is HVAC Best Practice Awardcommitted to continuous improvement of environmental design of new and reconstructed buildings at our three campuses: Cañada College, the College of San Mateo, and Skyline College.  We have been recognized by many professional organizations and peers for our efforts to design and build facilities with energy efficiency as a major goal.  This award recognizes this effort.

The Energy Efficiency Partnership Program, a joint partnership of the University of California, California State University and California Community Colleges presents an annual award for best practices in HVAC Design.  This award is presented to institutes of higher education where the design of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning  systems in a new building shows leadership in HVAC equipment selection, distribution system design and controls specifications.

This award, presented to SMCCCD for the design of Building 36, the Science Center and Planetarium, considers a number of factors regarding climate control system design.  Appropriate system sizing, selection of energy efficient equipment, innovative air distribution, fume hood control innovation and maximizing the benefits of local climate all contribute to the selection of the awardees.
