Coca Cola Scholarship
members, LeeAnn Butler and Valeria Higgins received the 2005 Coca Cola Scholarship.

    BQO member Mauricio Gomez named to All-California Academic First Team 

Elbert Mauricio Prado Gomez, age 25, and a second-year student at Skyline College, was born in Colombia and raised in Brazil. His family moved to the SF Bay Area in 1996. Mauricio has achieved a 3.70 GPA at Skyline and hopes to transfer to UC Berkeley in fall 2005, where he plans to study Conservation and Resource Management. His goal is to earn a Ph.D. and to become an atmospheric scientist doing research in environmental conservation. Mauricio has been active in Skyline College, and in Skyline’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter, Beta Theta Omicron. He is particularly proud of his involvement with the award-winning public access TV series, "Down to Earth." He worked with the producers researching, writing scripts, and doing voiceovers for the series.
