Description	David Mertes receives check for scholarships - (from publicity release) "SAN MATEO FIRM ESTABLISHES NEW SCHOLARSHIPS - Robert Marcus, left, executive vice president of Amax Aluminum Company, Inc., headquartered in San Mateo, presents $1500 scholarships check to President David Mertes of College of San Mateo. The money will be used to assist four students enrolled in the college's office occupations and technical programs who exhibit excellent academic potential but have not built up the kind of high past grades record that would put them in line for other types of scholarships. Designated as Amax Aluminum Company Scholarships, the fund will be administered by the Foundation for San Mateo Community College District." 1970's
