All students are required to enroll in a 3-unit Copperative Education course, COOP 671 General Global, for the summer term through Skyline College.

Yes, you can afford it! You may be eligible for a scholarship or to use your financial aid. All students accepted into the program are eligible to apply. 

Internships in Lisbon: June 9 - August 3, 2024

The Global Internships team works to match you with a project that most closely connects to your career goals, interests, and experience level. Internships in Lisbon are available in a variety of fields, and a placement is guaranteed.

Examples of past internships:

  • Consumer Goods Start Up: supporting message testing and market verification for a beauty company
  • Marketing Firm: developing and delivering social media calendar for European expansion
  • Professional Services Company: supporting activities related to new business development such as new client prospecting, outreach planning and coordination for follow up

Opportunities can vary year-to-year due to such factors as market trends, time of year, and economic trends.

Common industry sectors for internships include, but are not limited to:

  • Communications and Marketing: public relations, content creation, social media, corporate communications, tourism agencies, and more
  • Entrepreneurship and Technology: EdTech, innovation hubs, start-up accelerators, UX design, VC funding, and more
  • Nonprofit and NGO: program development, policy research, data analysis, evaluation reports, and fundraising support

Some challenging internship fields to place in Portugal are:

  • Governmental or legal placements are typically reserved for local students or permanent residents. Alternate opportunities include policy, advocacy, or research with nonprofit organizations.
  • Medical placements or any field requiring handling of confidential data or information is unlikely. Alternate opportunities include public health or NGOs.

Program Fees

The fees to participate in this program are broken down into 1) program fees, which cover housing, advising, internship placement, orientations, cross-cultural activities program, professional development support, international medical and accident insurance and a variety of support services while abroad; 2) tuition (paid to Skyline College), for a three-unit degree-applicable course required for all Global Internship participants

Out-of-Pocket Expenses

In addition to the program fee and tuition outline above, you will need to budget for your out-of-pocket expenses. Below are estimated expenses; actual expenses will vary depending on your lifestyle and spending habits.

Program Eligibility

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher (please note that certain majors may require a higher GPA; please inquire during your advising appointment)
  • Have completed a minimum of 30 units of college level coursework prior to program
  • It is your responsibility to obtain any necessary travel documentation for your program destination (i.e. passport, visa, etc). This may require you to pay fees of up to a few hundred dollars depending on the type of paperwork required.
