Enrolling in Distance Education

We've made entering college and enrolling in distance education classes a breeze! Simply check whether you're an SMCCCD continuing student* or not, and we'll show you the exact steps to take!

*(You are a continuing student if you have attended one of our colleges (Skyline, Cañada, CSM) within the last three terms. In that case click YES. All others seeking enrollment please click NO.)


Placement Testing

NOTE: You may be exempt from placement testing if one of the following applies to you. Please check all that apply. (Placement testing may still be required where prerequisites apply. See course descriptions or a counselor for details.)
Please check whicever is applicable to you:

I have taken the Placement Tests at Skyline, CSM or Cañada College within the last two years.

I have taken a placement test at another California Community College within the last two years and a counselor has reviewed my results for equivalency.

I am are a former student or transfer student from another accredited college in the United States and have completed course work in mathematics and/or English with a grade of "C" or better. (I can provide unofficial transcripts or other evidence of grades to my counselor.)

I can show evidence of completing the College Board Advanced Placement Test (AP) in English Language or in English Literature with a score of 3, 4 or 5.

I can show evidence of completing the College Board Advanced Placement Test (AP) in mathematics with a score of 3, 4 or 5.

I am taking classes for personal enrichment and do not intend to earn a degree or certificate. (If checked, jump should be to Contact a Counselor section on return page)

I am primarily a student at another educational institution and taking courses in the SMCCCD to meet requirements of that institution.

I am employed and taking classes related to my job.
