Weekly Quizzes:  Beginning September 1st, you will have a quiz almost every week at the beginning of class.  These quizzes will be to check for your reading of the material and preparation for class.  If you miss a quiz you MUST make it up before the next class or forfeit the opportunity to take it.  Quizzes are short answer and brief essay.  You will be dropping your lowest quiz score at the end of the semester.

ExamsAre composed of short answer questions about the material
covered throughout the semester.

Semester Project: You will be doing an oral presentation accompanied by a written paper. This assignment will be given out the second week of class and the presentations will be done, 2 each in class beginning February 17th.

Class Participation: This is an interactive class which is enhanced by your contributions. Furthermore, your verbal recounting of the material will help you retain it. For these reasons, class participation is part of your grade, as follows: You are all given 5 points the first day of class. You may add to these points by contributing to daily discussions. You may subtract from these points by refusing to participate or distracting the class with outside discussions or disruptive behavior. There are very seldom extra-credit opportunities in this course, however, if one does present itself, I will announce it in class. You should not count on extra credit to enhance your grade.
