Just a little Background (and some links...)

Education:I took my first economics course in the 1970s at Laney College. High unemployment and inflation meant hard times for many people, but it was a great time to study economics. I finished my undergraduate work at U.C. Berkeley . After graduating I worked for a few years, and then entered graduate school at Stanford University, where I completed my Ph.D. in economics.

Teaching: My first taste of teaching college students came as a tutor at U.C. Berkeley's Student Learning Center. I taught economics as a graduate student at Stanford, and after graduating taught economics at Mills College. In the fall of 2000 I began to teach at Skyline College.

Other: When I am not teaching, I work on my research, give some time to the Japanese American community in San Jose (Nihonmachi Outreach Committee), and spend time with my family. I also like to check out my favorite web sites on the economy! Once in a while I even go a little wild (Click here for a video of me trying to ride a mechanical bull at Skyline!)
