Description:
The existing deteriorated Facilities Maintenance Center (FMC) at Skyline College will be replaced with the construction of a new sustainable FMC. The new FMC will include shop areas, such as a wood shop, electrical shop, and automotive shop, which will be served by a new and upsized electrical service. A carport for vehicle storage as well as a fueling station and car wash will be built along with the Facilities Maintenance Center. It is the goal of this sustainable project to build the FMC as a LEED Silver Certified building. 14,450 gsf.

Benefits:
The existing structures were originally used as Coast Guard Barracks and have been adapted in a piecemeal fashion in an attempt to suit the needs of the Facilities and Maintenance Department. They have outlived their useful life and are in a state of major disrepair and deterioration. They new facilities will allow the staff to function in an efficient and safe environment to be able to better serve the college.

Status: Demolition complete. Construction started 2/4/08
