Project Description:
Building 1 currently houses a mixture of instructional and administrative programs including music, ceramics, sculpture, drawing, technology, theater, and the Office of the President. The technology classroom and the Office of the President will be relocated to other buildings as a part of separate projects not part of this contract. The released space will be repurposed to consolidate art related programs to Building 1 including the Photography Department and to better support those programs now in the building. Work also includes accessibility upgrades including elevator and restrooms. Work is primarily interior although there are minor program elements which may require alterations or expansion to the building. The building program emphasizes creation of a new interior image which seeks to tie together the individual fine arts department space within a common context. The work may be divided into multiple phases based on pre-established funding sources. The work may also be executed in multiple phases based upon varying funding release dates.
Project Benefits:
The project will enhance the collaborative opportunities among the fine arts program. The project also leverages existing infrastructure to provide expanded instruction program capabilities. When completed, the project will contribute to the successful revitalization of the fine arts experience.
