Hi everyone – as most of you have discovered (because it nearly impossible not to) – all three of our quad areas are now fenced off and construction by Hensel Phelps is ongoing to create what will eventually become beautifully landscaped quads.
- Main Quad – between Buildings 1 and 2
- Upper Quad – between Buildings 7 and 8
- Lower Quad – between Buildings 2 and 3
Please, please, please open this file . . . . it is a photomap that shows the borders of the fencing, what quad areas are now fenced off (red-shaded), and yellow lines depicting the pathways through and along the fenced off quad areas. Hensel Phelps and Swinerton will always make sure accessible pathways are maintained through theses closed off quad areas – with the exception of the Upper Quad . The only way to get to Building 8 from lower locations on campus is through Building 7; conversely, to get from Building 8 to lower locations on campus will require one to navigate through Building 7.
The fencing you see will remain ALL SUMMER and sections of fencing will possibly have to remain going into the Fall Semester. Swinerton staff will be posting ample signage to direct everyone through this maze-like condition our inner campus has become.
Questions about the construction of our three quad areas can be directed to Zak Conway, Swinerton Project Manager, at conwayz@smccd.edu or ext 7042. If you have specific questions about the ‘design and look’ our quad areas will turn into or want to look at art renderings of what we can expect to see when it’s all finished, then contact Glenn Claycomb, Construction Planning Project Manager, at claycombg@smccd.edu or 7062.
Please be careful around the one big ‘Construction Zone’ the campus has now become. Your Facilities Maintenance staff wish for all of you a safe and enjoyable summer with opportunities to have some fun. Take care -
