GENERAL DISCUSSION TOPICS
Fire, Welding, Machine, Multi-Media:

  • Where do they go?
  • Special structural requirements for some of these programs

ITS: In Building 34 – Is it permanent or temporary?
Campus Aesthetics: Trees, Student Hangout, Image, Pavilion

User Friendly – Find your way:

  • Accessibility as a whole
  • Freeway – Is the campus easy to find?
  • Between Buildings – Handicap access

Faculty/Staff/Students need places to interact

1

STUDENT

  • Integrate Students/ Faculty
  • Closer Physical relationship between students and support services
  • Too far from Buildings 5/6 to Buildings15/17
  • Old Planetarium location is a "Hot Spot"
  • Provide a Lawn Amphitheater
  • Campus Spine needs improvement
  • Area for students to gather and be loud - "together but apart"
  • New student service building should be close to instructional space

2

FACULTY & STAFF

  • Add the word "diverse" to Goal
  • Have meeting places for students where faculty has offices
  • Add to Goal "by providing appropriate professional environment"
  • Intermingling has been planned at Building 36

3

COMMUNITY

  • Attracting Community use requires modern buildings
  • More rooms like Choral Rm and Theater to be able to bring businesses (200p)
  • Showpiece campus – Community come in to see; not stay on periphery

4

PEDESTRIAN/VEHICULAR CIRCULATION

  • Common paths of travel (between regular pedestrian flow and handicap)
  • Walk from Faculty housing is dangerous, put in traffic lights or flashing lights.
  • Congested traffic at bus; Have additional locations for drop-off and pick-up

5

CAMPUS PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Integrate spa or workout into campus (for Faculty/Staff/Students to use together on "off" times) – casual interaction – community too
  • Where to put staff support offices in Buildings 28, 29, 1, and 5?
  • Integrity of campus – maintain unified integrity (with all the building changes)
  • New 50m Pool instead of 2 sub-standard pools.
  • Expanded Athletics for recreational purpose
  • Combine Faculty offices Buildings 15/17, use Building 6 for Student activities, use vacancy for Student Services Building
  • Large Cafeteria vs. Satellite food and intimate spaces
  • Need Art Gallery – upgrade art space to meet current trend in art/music digital
  • Theater is underutilized - Needs accessibility. Program is growing – more classroom/community involvement – Shows booked from March through May
  • Art Gallery in central location
  • College Bookstore in "HUB" – make it centrally located
  • Cover the courtyard with a glass top /Natural light/Secure it for Gallery
  • Can't lose outdoor amphitheater; Music performances
