The outdoor athletic facilities at Cañada College have not had significant renovations since the opening of the campus in the 1960’s. As a result, the playing surfaces are worn, affecting playability, increasing maintenance effort and limiting instructional and community use. Athletic programs and community use of athletic facilities provide visibility and integrate the College into the life of the surrounding community.
Beginning in the Spring of 2004, these facilities will be improved by implementing the following projects:
renovation of the softball field, to provide future spectator areas and adjacent parking, and natural turf renovation
upgrade of the existing football field to synthetic turf
renovation of the existing track
upgrade of the existing baseball field to synthetic turf
new restrooms, storage and batting cage structures
renovation of stadium bleachers
installation of a new press box
infrastructure for sport field lighting
renovation of the field throwing area
accessibility upgrades to all fields from parking areas
