LINDA VAN SCIVER- Disabled Students Program Services (DSPS) Coordinator

The DSPS, under the mandate of the American with Disabilities Act, is designed to accommodate students with learning disabilities. To determine whether a student is eligible for DSPS accommodations, he or she must go through an evaluation procedure. When a learning disability has been determined, the student provides a copy of the Notification of Student Eligibility for Accommodations form to their instructor who then works with the student and the DSPS office in providing accommodations.

Some concern was expressed that the Notification form should include a line where faculty can sign and acknowledge that accommodations were discussed with the student. Another suggestion was to have an online tutorial designed to help faculty members with DSPS regulations.
