Here is a brief listing of Internet sites that are useful in institutional research and planning. Use these sites as a starting point for further Internet searches.
AACC Research - The research page of the American Association of Community Colleges. Presents some good information featuring statistics and national trends in community colleges.

ABAG Data Center - A complete source of population, demographic, and economic data for the Bay Area. Maintained by the Association of Bay Area Governments. Has good maps.

California Community College Chancellor's Office - The most comprehensive source of information about the California community colleges with reports and a Data Mart for current and historical information.

California Department of Education--K-12 Demographic Data - The best source of demographic information about the K-12 system. Information is available at state, county, district, and school levels. Has a nice reports query feature.

California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC) CPEC is a citizen board that provides the Legislature and Governor with policy analysis and recommendations about higher education. This website includes interactive reports on transfers, awards and enrollments among other information.
 
Community Economic Toolbox - This website provides a set of on-line tools that are standard in the field of community economic development. By selecting the state and then the county that you're interested in examining,  you'll find information on labor trends and much more. In some of the tools you will be able to download data. Also see the list of other sources for more details on local economic analysis.

CSU Analytic Studies Division - Provides a variety of statistical and planning data for the CSU system. Offers access to Academic Performance Reports for community college transfer students.

NCHEMS Information Center for State Higher Education Policymaking and Analysis - Funded by the Ford Foundation and the National Postsecondary Education Cooperative for supporting the development, the website is an ongoing effort to provide higher education policymakers and analysts with the data and information needed to make sound policy decisions.

Research and Planning Group - The RP Group provides leadership in research, analysis, and planning issues for the California Community Colleges. The RP Group provides news, assistance, resources, and networking opportunities for researchers.
 

Society for College and University Planning - SCUP is an association focused on the promotion, advancement, and application of effective planning in higher education. There website provides information on national trends in higher education along with campus planning documents and learning space design resources.


U.S. Census Bureau - An encyclopedic source of economic, demographic, and geographic data at the local, county, state, and national levels.
