Executive Report to the Board of Trustees:  My Executive Report to the Board from yesterday evening will be available shortly on our website at http://www.smccd.net/accounts/skynotes/.

Welcome to a new staff member:  Please join me in welcoming Annie Trinh who began working as an Accounting Technician yesterday.  She will be our evening cashier at the One Stop.

Gandhi quotation is up on Building 6:  Just a year ago we went through a college-wide process to select an inspirational quotation to appear on the face of our new Student Center and we selected the following quotation from Mahatma Gandhi:  You must be the change you wish to see in the world.  It is now installed and if you want to see it, go around to the north side of the building. We owe thanks to the district and Swinerton staff who helped us make this important improvement to the building, including Jose Nunez, Linda Da Silva, Karen Powell and Doug Henry.

Educational and Facilities Master Planning update:
A couple of weeks ago in a message I called “Shaping Our Future,”  I told you about two important planning projects that we are undertaking this spring, both related to the passage of the facilities bond measure last fall.  One is an educational master planning process and the other focuses on the facilities themselves.  I told you that there would be a college-wide task force working on these two projects together, called the Educational and Facilities Master Planning Task Force (EFMP) comprised of members from the following groups:  College Council, Institutional Planning Committee, Academic Senate Governing Council, Classified Senate Governing Council, Associated Students Governing Council, Management Council, and our DSPS specialist.  That group has been formed and will begin meeting immediately.  I also noted that there would be a variety of other methods for providing input to these processes, including open college-wide forums. There are four of those planned. You will hear shortly from Cathy Hasson, Director of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness, about the dates for these open forums.  She will also point you to the website where the details and timeline for these planning processes will be available.

Founder’s Learning Grove of Trees:  Check it out, down by the tennis courts.  It is now a year old and quite beautiful.

College Council update:  The regularly scheduled College Council meeting next week will be replaced by a meeting of the Educational and Facilities Master Planning strategy sessions, in which the Council members will be participating.
