President's Updates
Skyline Shines
January 11, 2006
Happy New Year! Welcome back to the college. I hope that your break brought the sort of breather you needed. As we start the spring semester next week, please join me in keeping an eye out for new students during the first couple of weeks of the term. It would be a great time to break out your "Ask Me!" button to help identify you as someone who can help. Best wishes for the new term!
Welcome to a new member of the Skyline staff: Please join me in welcoming a new member of our full-time staff, Winnie Kwok-Tsang, Project Director in the Office of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness, who began January 9.
Facilities staff watches over Skyline during the break: Please join me in thanking our Facilities staff for their heroic efforts during the break as they dealt with a couple of major challenges:
Student artwork coming soon to a fence near you:
The fencing around the new student center is soon to be enhanced by a series
of panels painted by students in our Art program. Thanks to Doug Henry of Swinerton
for the idea and for the weatherproofing on the panels, to Donna Bestock and
the Art faculty for making it happen, and to Richard Inokuchi and the Facilities
staff for the installation.
Skyline spreads the news about Spring Semester: Our Spring Semester promotional campaign is underway and includes advertising in local papers, mailing postcards to our service area, calling students who have been admitted but not registered, and staffing of informational tables by our Student Ambassadors from January 12th to January 15th at Serramonte and Tanforan Shopping Centers. The One-Stop Center will be open on Saturday January 14th to support the outreach efforts by the Ambassadors. You may also have noticed our presence at www.sfgate.com <http://www.sfgate.com/> .
