TROJANS EVEN RECORD WITH WIN OVER MISSION October 28, 2008 With a 4-0 win over Mission College of Santa Clara on Tuesday the Skyline Men's Soccer team evened their season record at 6-6-5 and still remain perfect in divisional play with a 1-0-1 record. The Trojans are currently 16th in the latest Northern California Playoff rankings, and with just four games remaining on the schedule Skyline hopes to climb back into playoff contention with a strong finish. The top 13 men's teams in Northern California qualify for the state playoffs. Craig Dillie scored twice and Oscar Rodriguez had three assists to lead Skyline to the victory. Jose Lanza also scored and goalkeeper Kevin Artiga grabbed the shutout. Skyline will travel to Monterey Peninsula College on Friday Oct. 31st for a 2:00pm kickoff. SKYLINE LOOKS FOR GOALS IN EARLY SEASON STRUGGLES October 13, 2008 Over their past five games the Skyline's Men's soccer team has seen a goal scoring drought turn their promising 4-1-1 start into a frustrating 4-5-3 overall record. The Trojans open divisional play on Tuesday when they travel to De Anza College of Cupertino. In their last two matches the Trojans battled to a 1-1 tie at Canada College and took a 1-0 home loss to Hartnell College of Salinas. Jesus Ochoa leads Skyline with 3 goals and three assists on the season. Brad Kotlar also has tallied three goals and Eddie Gaitan has been solid in the Skyline net, giving up just under 1.5 goals a game. TROJANS BREAK OUT TO FAST START Sept. 20, 2008 The Skyline Men's Soccer team has rolled to a 4-1-1 start in their 2008 pre-confernce schedule, having not lost since their opening match, the Trojans have not given up a goal in their last four games. Skyline's latest win over Contra Costa College on Friday, a 1-0 shutout, pushed the Trojans unbeaten streak to 5 games. Skyline fell to College of Marin 4-2 in their opening match, but rebounded against Shasta College with a 4-1 home win and then began their shutout streak against two Coast Conference teams, a 2-0 win over De Anza College and a 0-0 tie with Foothill College. The Trojans then traveled to Modesto where they beat the home team 1-0 and returned home Friday to collect another 1-0 win. Skyline will complete their pre-confernce schedule on Tuesday Sept. 23rd when they host Santa Rosa JC at 1:00pm. |
