To search for books in all libraries in the PLS system:

Type
search words (keep your search words broad) in the first search box & click
Submit.
Six
book series that provide a variety of opinions on various social issue topics
are:

- Contemporary Issues,
- Current Controversies,
- Opposing Viewpoints,
- Point-counterpoint
- Taking Sides.
To narrow your search to one of these book series, enter the series title after the name of your topic.
The
search results will show books and other materials in all libraries in the
PLS system.

To Limit your
search results to materials at

Click
on Modify Search near the top of the screen.

You
will be brought back to the search screen and your search term(s) will
reappear.

Scroll
down to the Location selection box (2nd box under Limit
to: below the search boxes),

IDEA Debatabase: Database for students wishing to research topics for debate, containing hundreds of topics, each with basic arguments for and against a controversial proposition.
Social Issues: Links to sources

Also includes Legal News, legal forms, organizations, law firms and lawyers, judicial opinions and case law, consultants, and more.
Internet Law Library: Contains links to over 7,500 law related resources in subjects such as U.S. federal laws, state and territorial laws, international laws, laws of all jurisdictions arranged by subject, attorney and legal professional directories, law school library catalogs and directories, and reviews of law books. The current U.S. Code and Code of Federal Regulations can also be searched from the home page.
U.S. Government Documents Ready Reference Collection: A Web site of frequently used government titles at Columbia University Library with their equivalent Web links. While this is not a comprehensive government publications listing, it is never-the-less, a handy directory to popular government reports on topics such as business, crime, education, energy, environment, health, and transportation.

Monitors campaign contributions by individuals, businesses, special interest
groups, and industry sectors for state elections held 1990 through 1998.
Visitors may search the database for contributions by people or groups in one
or more elections; view summary reports for selected states; or read analyses
of specific elections and spending patterns by special interest groups (such as
the National Rifle Association and the gambling industry). Data is not
available for all states for all years. Data is supplied by government agencies
within each state, then compiled by the nonpartisan, nonprofit National
Institute on Money in State Politics.
