Romeo Garcia
OUTREACH & CAMPUS RESOURCES (TRIO)
Romeo is a youth organizer and co-advisor for the Pilipino Youth Coalition of San Mateo County, California. He encourages community-based learning among high school and college youth, organizing around issues of social justice and community development. Romeo began organizing when he was 16 years old among Filipino and Asian American youth in Oxnard, CA.
In close partnership with PYC-San Mateo County, he also is currently an Advisory Board member for the new Liwanag Kultural Center in Daly City, the Outreach and Campus Resources Coordinator for the Kababayan Program, and co-advisor for the Filipino Student Union at Skyline College. Romeo recently completed a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Equity and Social Justice at San Francisco State University. |
Liza Erpelo
ENGLISH INSTRUCTOR
Liza is an assistant professor in the Language Arts Division, Instructor and Program Coordinator for the Kababayan Program, and co-advisor for the Filipino Student Union at Skyline College.
She teaches the entire range of English and reading courses at the college, from developmental reading and writing to composition, literature, and critical thinking. She has also developed a two-semester course for the scriptwriting, editing, revision, and production of a Pilipino Cultural Night.
A graduate of both San Diego and San Francisco State Universities, Liza is also an Advisory Board member for the Liwanag Kultural Center in Daly City and works with the Pilipino Youth Coalition of San Mateo County.

Nate Nevado
COUNSELOR
Nate is the Counselor and Mentorship Co-Coordinator for the Kababayan Program and co-advisor for the Filipino Student Union at Skyline College.
His counseling work also extends to other students of color as he is also a counselor and the mentorship coordinator for the African American Scholastic Program at City College of San Francisco.
Nate is also involved in community work, serving as a co-advisor for the Pilipino Youth Coalition of San Mateo County as well as the C.A.T.C.H.U.P. program coordinator for the Liwanag Kultural Center in Daly City.
