3. Review responsibilities, accomplishments, and goals: Garry.

Review handout regarding responsibilities of Ed Policy Committee. Items listed are considered as issues that could be presented to committee.  Matriculation committee also integrated into 2 future meetings.

4. Progress report on disabled student academic accommodations appeals form: Lynne.

Jennifer and Lynne to collaborate on accommodations appeal.  Makeup of Academic Standards Committee discussed.  Each campus will organize as they interpret the district policy.

(Note from Garry: Lynne Douglas suggests in her ÒProposed SolutionsÓ that the Academic Standards Committee can convene ad hoc for each student petition.  At a minimum it should include a DSPS professional and a faculty member from the course area in question.  Jennifer Hughes has suggested that it also include the dean of enrollment services and dean of counseling as well as the chair of Ed Policy. This will be put on the next agenda as an action item to decide.)

Committee had long discussion of current policies and procedures for disabled students requesting course substitutions.

6. Sherri A&R Update:  Enforcing required petition for students who request to repeat a course more than allowable. Technical Subcommittee made good headway on web based degree audit for students.  This will allow students to monitor courses needed for major and graduation .

5. New developments: cheating/plagiarism? Cindy, Garry

Cindy handed out statistic class results on cheating/plagiarism.  What are other institutions doing about internet plagiarism? Is this culturally motivated?  SFSU certifies that paper is not plagiarized by requiring student run through internet research software.  Garry will follow up on name of program that certifies document is not plagiarized.

7.  Matriculation advisory committee: Jennifer.

Meeting to walk through current processes.  Tentative for upcoming November & February meetings.
