Course Description

A study of the basic principles of becoming an Esthetician that include a basic understanding of the chemistry of the skin and the products used in it's care along with the application of make-up.

Upon completion of this course, the student shall have demonstrated competencies required to pass the State Board Examination, maintain the minimum average set by the school and the ability to:

  • Understand the Science of Professional Skin Care
  • Identify the composition of the skin and provide the client with professional skin care services
  • Analyze the client's skin and apply correct make-up
  • Analyze and consult with a client on skin care
  • Understand reactions of the skin when applying a product
  • Understand and apply correct techniques when applying eyelashes
  • Professional removal of superfluous hair

Grading Information

Your semester grade will be based on:

Theory:

  • 1/4 homework & extra assignments related to theory
  • 1/4 test on theory subjects
  • 1/2 written final
  • 1/4+1/4+1/2= Theory grade

Practical:

  • 1/4 assignment sheets
  • 1/4 practical test and classroom graded assignments
  • 1/2 practical final
  • 1/4+1/4+1/2=Practical grade

Attendance:

  • 0 - 12 = 100%
  • 12.25 - 16 = 90%
  • 16.25 - 20 = 80%
  • 20.25 - 24 = 70%
  • 24.25 - up = 60%

Grading Procedure:

  • Theory class: 25%
  • Practical work: 50%
  • Attendance: 25%

Grading Scale:

  • 100% - 94% = A
  • 93% - 85% = B
  • 84% - 75% = C
  • 74% - 64% = D
  • 63% - Below = F
