MATH 115 GEOMETRY (4)
Prerequisite: Completion of MATH 110 with grade C or better, or appropriate placement test score and other measures as appropriate, or equivalent.
A study of Euclidean geometry with aspects of analytic geometry, covering plane and solid figures, the Cartesian coordinate system, and using formal logic.

Text: Elementary Geometry For College Students, by Alexander & Koeberlein. We will cover chapters 1-5 and a graphing calculator is required for the course (preferably TI-83 Plus).

Homework: DO IT!!! It will be collected every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Late homeworks will not be accepted!  Grading is based on completion and a few problems are going to be graded.  If you get a tutor to sign off on the problems AND you get them correct, you will receive extra credit. Homework will account for 26% of your grade.

Exams: There will be 4 exams, one at the end of every week, 13% each. NO MAKE UP EXAMS unless given prior notice. Your lowest grade will be dropped. Total, the exams will count for 39% of your grade.

Final: The final is cumulative and will be held on August 11, 2006 at 10:30-1:00pm. In order to pass the course, you must take the final. The comprehensive final will count for 20% of your grade.

Quizzes: There will be quizzes all the time, some easy and some hella easy. Most quiz questions will be taken right out of the homework. So DO THE HOMEWORK! You should expect 2 quizzes a week. This means come to class often. Your quiz work will account for 15% of the final grade.

Tutoring: The Learning Center is located on the first floor of building 5. Drop in tutoring is available most of the day and I’m there at night. Use TLC as a resource for extra points.
