EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT Baroque & Renaissance comparisons – Due 21 April
2 pages,
typed, double spaced.
- Compare an image of a painting from the Baroque (Ch 10)
to one from the Renaissance (Ch 8 & 9). (One exception: DO NOT choose the work
by Poussin as representative of the
Baroque. Avoid Poussin! Poussin =
poison!) Write about principles of
design and connections to ideas of the eras. 1-2 pages, typed, double spaced. Italicize or underline titles of works
and give page numbers. Mention the
names of the artists and the titles of the works.
- Compare the Donatello,
Michaelangelo and Bernini
Davids. Describe each work and an associated
idea or generalization.
- Compare a piece of Baroque
music with one from the Renaissance by naming three differences that you
can hear.
- What general traits of Baroque
music can be heard in the Halleluja Chorus from
Handel’s Messiah? (Recording on textbook CD).
