1.) ROUNDHOUSE PUNCH TO THE HEAD

Attacker: Step forward with right roundhouse punch (mawashi-zuki) to the side of the head.

Defender: Step forward with left upper block. In a single continuous motion, circle arm to tuck attacker's arm under your armpit. Exert upward pressure with your left hand on attacker's elbow. Right elbow strike to chest. Right palm blow to chin. Grab collar and step behind attacker with right foot, drop hips and throw. Follow up with punch to face.

Right palm blow to chin, grab collar, step through with right foot, drop hips and throw. Follow up with appropriate attack.

3.) STRAIGHT PUNCH TO FACE #2

Attacker: Step forward with right front punch to face (Oi-zuki).

Defender: Step forward at 45 degree angle with left foot to left front stance, right hand circular sword hand block. Without pause, extend right hand into attacker's face and continue to pivot on left foot to move behind attacker. With both hands, rip attacker's eyes from behind. (Alternatively, one could grab the hair and deliver a knee strike to the small of the back.)

4.) STRAIGHT PUNCH TO FACE #3

Attacker: Step forward with right front punch to face (Oi-zuki).

Defender: Step forward with right foot into right cat stance, double vertical sword hand block. Rip eyes with tips of right fingers in spear hand block. Without pause, deliver palm blow to chin with right hand. At the same time maintain control of attacker's hand with your left hand, by grabbing wrist. Move right hand back to join left hand and apply wrist lock by placing both thumbs on the BACK of attacker's hand, gripping palm with fingers of both hands. Step back with right foot and with a large circular motion, bring attacker's arm up, over and down in a clockwise motion. Deliver right front kick to attacker's chest (attacker should be bending over due to wrist lock). Place right foot down and step in with left foot to horse stance. Break opponent's elbow with strike slightly above the joint.

5.) HEADLOCK #1

Attacker: Place opponent in headlock on your right side. Attacker and defender are facing forward.

Defender: Protect face from punch with right hand. Place left foot behind opponent. With right heel, kick attacker's right kneecap and without pause, stomp down on the instep. Placing left hand on attacker's butt, deliver a sword hand strike to groin with right hand. Reach over and around with left hand to place index finger at the point where attacker's upper lip and nose meet. Exert upward and backward pressure to unbalance opponent and throw to ground. Follow up with appropriate attack.
