--- SOURCES OF HELP FOR YOUR PHYSICS COURSE WORK ---
1.) Ilkka (your professor)
In person: As I mentioned in lecture, I am readily available
during office hours, and have an open door policy-- feel free to stop by any time.
Of course, I am more familiar with the level of the material, notation, and homework
questions than outside sources of help. My full schedule
is posted on my door (also available on-line here)
and indicates if I am teaching another class or off campus; otherwise if I am
not there I may be back shortly. I may also be teaching a lab next door in 1218--
if things aren't too busy I may be able to answer something quickly.
Over email: I
am also happy to help via email, and can usually (but not always) return emails
within one day. Please be as detailed as you can with your question, so I can
comment on where you might have gone wrong. Keep in mind that I cannot include
equations or diagrams over email-- for some questions you may need to visit me
in person. However, it is surprising how much you can get done over email.
2.) The
MESA Center
This is the math and science-oriented tutoring center down the hall from my office,
and is open during most normal hours. This is also a good place to network with
other students to form homework study groups. Once you have a group formed, this
is also somewhere with adequate space to work together.
3.) Skyline Learning
Center
Both individual and group tutoring is available, along with a wide variety of
services such as math workshops-- these may especially be helpful if you need
to brush up on the math skills required for doing well in physics.
