 Biography

After receiving a degree in journalism from San Diego State University, I became the production editor at City Sports magazine in San Francisco; I also freelanced for several publications around the city. As much as I loved my magazine job, teaching beckoned. I went back to school and received my M.A. in English Literature and a Certificate in the Teaching of Composition from San Francisco State. Upon graduation, I was hired at Skyline to teach English, but after a few years was approached about renewing the defunct journalism program. What fun! I went for it full guns and we now offer several journalism classes and the students have revived the campus newspaper, The Skyline View. Now I combine three loves--English, journalism, and teaching--at Skyline College. One of the things I love best about teaching is seeing students realize that they are capable and that they have many, many opportunities open to them.
