Portable Document Format files (PDFs) contain formatted text and graphics. This allows PDF files to look identical when viewed on different platforms (MacOS, Unix Systems, PCs etc.). A number of documents, including lecture outlines, are provided on this web site in PDF format.
PDF files are created using Adobe Acrobat® software. Adobe produces a free application called Adobe Acrobat Reader® which allows you to download, open, read, and print PDF files. If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat Reader, then you can download the latest version free of charge from the Adobe website
To download a PDF from the web site, simply click on the appropriate link. The file will either download onto your machine or will open in your browser. Whether the file downloads or opens will depend on how your browser is configured. Use your browser preferences to reconfigure it.
PDF files downloaded onto both MacOS and Windows computers will have a ".pdf" extension. Simply doubleclick these or open them from within Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can then view the file or print it out for future reference. Note: for those guests with visual disabilities, the text of a PDF document can be magnified for easier reading by choosing the zoom function from the "View" menu, or by selecting the appropriate magnification from the pop-up box at the lower left of the screen.
