Author's choice - Write a work of fiction

Overview

Your objective in this choice is to teach your readers the medical science of your topic through a creative novel. Consider how today's popular authors compose spine tingling stories about viruses run amok, or tear jerkers about devastating degenerative neuromuscular disorders. Or think about how the writers for the television show ER manage to blend fiction with medical and scientific fact. Fiction is a powerful means of educating the public about important, and otherwise esoteric, medical issues. If you choose this option, you should compose a short story (10 or more single-spaced typed pages) that accurately incorporates the content of your Outline into a ficticious and entertaining story line. In addition to your novel you will turn in the following written components:

The Definitions
Create a glossary list of technical terms with their definitions.

The Citations
Your "Literature Cited" or "References" section should be a numbered bibliography of the sources you used in your research. Each source listed must be cited somewhere within your novel. Follow the CBE format for references.
