Hi, my name is Elena Ignatovich. I was born in Belarus, Eastern Europe. I finished High School there and
my family moved to the United States in 1990. Here, in California, I pursued several different
careers. First, I finished at Beauty School and worked as a hairstylist for 4 years at Macy's beauty salon in Serramonte. While
working there, I got offered a job at Kaiser Permanente as a Nursing Assistant for
the operating Room. I fell in love with the job and decided to pursue a nursing
career. I worked full time and went to school part time. It took me 6 years to go through all the prerequisites and English classes.
Actually, Respiratory Therapy was my back-up plan in case I didn't get accepted to Nursing. I applied for Nursing and didn't get accepted, so here
I am.
P.S. A week before school started, I got a phone call from Nursing Department, saying that
a space opened up, but I already had my mind set on the R.T. Program, so I denied the offer.
