- Log on
- The
first screen after you enter the program that asks for your information
such as name, email, class, password, etc.
- Title Bar
- The bar at the top of your layout screen that shows the program name and the standard window control menu on the left and the minimize, maximize or restore, and close buttons on the right
- Menu Bar
- The bar below the title bar that lists all of the drop-down menus
- Toolbar
- The bar below the menu bar that includes button for frequently used features and on-screen guidance
- Exercise header
- Specifies information about the current exercise, such as the speed and accuracy goals for a timing and scores on various attemts at the exercise
- Navigation menu
- On
the left side of the screen is a Menu list of activities and on
the right is a menu list of exercises for the Cortez Peters' activity
type
- Body of the screen
- Provides instructions or an area for typing text
- Status Bar
- Specifies
the lesson number and textbook page for the exercise. Line numbers
and length of a timing are indicated when applicable.
- Previous
and Next Buttons
- The
buttons at the bottom of the screen are used to move through the
screens in an exercise. Clicking on the next button after completing
an exercise saves the data to your disk.
- ESC
Key
- Located at the top left of the keyboard. Allows you to exit an exercise at any time
- Default
- In computer programs default refers to the way a program was
shipped by the software manufacturer
- Delete
Key
- Located
on the keyboard above the arrow keys will delete to the right
of the insertion point
- Dragging
- Holding
down the left mouse button and moving the mouse pointer
- Enter

on keyboard; by default it completes the entry and moves
insertion point to the next line

other window programs it contains information on most topics;
help today replaces cumbersome manuals that were shipped with
programs in the past

at bottom of document

- Eliminates
pressing enter at the end of line before you reach the end of
a paragraph. Text is wrapped or moved to the next line.
- Warm-Ups
- These appear
as the first exercise in each lesson. They are a practice of the
keyboard keys.

- Score of
a timing. Means Words Per Minute.
Charts
The diagnosis of individual
error patterns and prescription drills. Four charts are provided:
two to record your progress and two to diagnose your weaknesses
and prescribe corrective drills.
Diagnostic
Tests
Consists of ten 1-minute timings on sentences which stress a particular reach or stroke combination.
