CYCLE 6 NOTES

If you have completed 1.5 units in the Cortez Peters' Skillbuilding program and you are continuing in the program for 3.0 units, you will continue the cycles with Cycle 6. The only addition to the cycle is my request for you to complete two drills, Drill 1 & Drill 2, in the Accuracy Study #25. This is an excellent study for concentration. Please complete these drills after the warmup in Cycle 6 and before taking the Cycle 6 timing. Then, continue with the cycle by completing the timing, the prescription drills, the posttest timing, and the Skillbuilding Paragraphs. When you have completed Cycle 6 and emailed your reports, you will begin Cycle 7. If you have already completed Cycle 6, and you did not do Accuracy Study 25, do Accuracy Study 25 before Cycle 7.

LESSON OVERVIEW
1. Accuracy Study 25 Directions: These drills are intense concentration drills. You are to type each paragraph on a line-for-line basis, reading and typing from right to left, in other words, backward, and typing each line perfectly three times. Below is an example of the first line of drill one:

Reading left to right the line looks like this:
One of the most difficult tasks for most typing students is to develop

Typing from right to left
the line looks like this:
poleved ot si stneduts gnipyt tsom rof sksat tluciffid tsom eht fo enO

Say each character as you type it. Remember, true concentration will get you through this exercise.

2. Warm-up Drills: A 5-minute warm-up should be done at the beginning of each activity period. Do as many lines as you can in 5 minutes.
3. Pretest: Return to the Menu screen and take two attempts at a 5 minute Pretest Timing
4. Corrective Practice: If you have more than five errors on your best 5-minute timing, go to the Corrective Practice menu and key the prescribed Accuracy Studies/Prescription Drills.
5. Diagnostic Test: This is only to be done if you have five errors or less on your best 5-minute timing. Take the Diagnostic Test for that timing. Example: Timing 1, second attempt with a score of 35WPM and 2 errors, you will take the Diagnostic Test. This test contains ten 1-Minute Timings on specially constructed sentences, each of which stresses a particular reach or stroke combination. Corrective practice assignments are prescribed for speed and accuracy determined by the results of the Diagnostic Test.
6. Skill-Development Paragraphs: After the corrective practices have been completed for the session or day, return to the Menu screen and proceed to Skill Development Paragraphs. These drills contain basic stroke combinations and 1-minute speed paragraphs that range in length from 20 to 130 words a minute (WAM). Every time you complete the paragraph with 100% accuracy the program will move to the next paragraph.
7. Posttest: When the drills have been completed, take two attempts at the Posttest 5-minute timed writing. Compare Posttest results with the Pretest results.

Repeat the cycle when you have completed all the corrective drills and the posttest.
