Cycle
5 Notes
CYCLE
OVERVIEW
You will follow the same procedures as in cycles
one through four with the exception of the introduction to Rhythm Development
Drills that were introduced in Cycle 4 notes. Pay close attention to
your charting. Charting is beneficial. Summary Timings may be taken
in this cycle. Use the last 10 minutes of each corrective practice hour
to key the 1-minute Skill-Development Paragraphs.
TIP: Use the instruction screen to familiarize yourself
with the goals, suggested time of duration (approximately
5 hours each cycle), charting, Word Wrap status and specific
activity directions. A Championship Technique tip appears on every
instruction screen.
Skillbuilding Charts
Chart 1: Speed and Accuracy Graph
The Speed and Accuracy Graph (Chart 1) is a bar graph that plots your
GWPM (gross words per minute) and NWPM (net words per minute) scores
for all of your 5-Minute Timed Writings. To access the chart:
Select Speed and Accuracy Graph on the Reports pull-down menu.
Chart 2: Misstroke Analysis Chart
The Misstroke Analysis Chart appears after a 5-minute timed
writing is completed. After a 5-minute timing is scored, the Speed
and Accuracy Chart displays. Clicking the Next button on the Speed
and Accuracy Chart opens the Misstroke Analysis Chart for that timing.
To access an analysis of your misstrokes on your most recently scored
5-Minute Timed Writing, select Misstroke-Analysis Chart on the Reports
pull-down menu. Misstroke Analysis Charts are available for Pretest/Posttest
Timed Writing and Supplemental Timed Writing and are accessed by selecting
the charts on the Misstroke Analysis Chart submenu.
Chart 3: Speed and Accuracy Analysis Chart
The Speed and Accuracy Analysis Chart appears after a diagnostic test
is completed. After a diagnostic test is scored, the Speed and Accuracy
Chart displays. To access an analysis of your speed and accuracy on
any Diagnostic Test, select Speed and Accuracy on the Reports drop-down
menu.
Chart 4: Skill Development Paragraph Record
The Skill-Development Paragraph Record is a chart that records the
date each Skill-Development Paragraph was keyed in one minute without
an error. The center bar shows the completion status for each paragraph.
A filled-in circle indicates a successfully completed Skill Development
paragraph. The date the paragraph was successfully completed appears
to the left of the filled-in circle. The WPM level of the Skill Development
paragraph appears to the right of the filled-in circle.
