As you read this letter, hundreds of college students in our county are taking steps toward a new beginning, a brighter future, a second chance. Some are students who believed they couldn't afford to go to college. The opportunity to attend Skyline College, College of San Mateo and Cañada College would not be possible for many students, were it not for your financial support.

Records show that for fall 2006, 471 students from the three colleges received $281,005 in scholarship grants. This is truly an outstanding accomplishment. In addition, $1,564,416 was granted in 2005-06 to support college programs and services, the highest number in the 40-year history of the Foundation.

We applaud the talent and hard work of our Foundation Board in another successful Annual Campaign and in continuing to build the Chancellor's Circle. Circle members are individuals or businesses that donate $1,000 or more annually to support the work of the Foundation. Our small staff continues to keep administrative and fundraising costs below 10%.

We are deeply grateful to you, our valued donors, for your belief in the value of higher education. With your help, and in cooperation with our three outstanding colleges, we will continue to assist in producing a well-educated, skilled citizenry for San Mateo County.
