Subject: Construction Notice - Facilities Department and Swinerton Swing Move to Loma Chica

Hello everyone – our time has finally come – the construction of our new Facilities Maintenance Center (FMC) is just around the corner.  We have to get out of the way of the construction crews and your “Gals and Guys in Blue” in the Facilities Department will be operating out of the former Loma Chica school for the next 18 months.  We’ve been extremely busy getting Loma Chica ready to house all the ‘stuff’ we have up here and thanks to Swinerton, we are ready to move in. 

Our Swinerton Team is also up here on the hilltop and they will be moving to Loma Chica along with us.  We will be moving starting Monday, July 9 thru Wednesday, July 11.

In case you’re not exactly sure where Loma Chica is located, the attached photomap should help orient you.  It will be posted on our office doors (Bldg 14) and Swinerton’s (Bldg 12) to provide directions to those who haven’t gotten the word that we’ve moved.

Swinerton will stay at Loma Chica, whereas the Facilities Department will swing back to our hilltop upon the completion of the construction of the new FMC buildings – we will work out of four buildings up here – Buildings 21, 22, 23, and 24.

Facilities staff have carefully planned and phased the swing move so as to not result in any detectable degradation of provided service.  The fact that we are moving will be ‘seamless’ and should appear ‘transparent’ to campus operations.  If you detect otherwise, please don’t hesitate to call and tell me.

It‘s an exciting time for all of us here in your Facilities Department, as we’ve been waiting for this moment for years (some of my folks exaggerate and say decades).  I know all of you wish us well in our move and that you will be ‘kind and gentle’ with us as we ramp up our operations in an effort to continue to provide “Facilities Excellence” in all that we do.  

Give us a couple of weeks to get things fully organized and presentable and then please come visit us in our new ‘temporary home.’  Thanks -
