ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

 

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the San Mateo County Community College District (“District”) of San Mateo, California, acting through its Governing Board, hereinafter referred to as the District, will accept sealed bids for the award of the contract for the following public work:

 

BID NUMBER 86552

CANADA COLLEGE FACILITIES MAINTENANCE CENTER SITE UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Cañada College

Redwood City, CALIFORNIA

 

Each bid must conform to and be responsive to the contract documents and be submitted on a form furnished by the District.  Bids can only be submitted by those A-License & B-License contractors who have been pre-qualified with the District, as reflected on the District’s website: http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/planconstruct/ContractoPrequaledFirms_01.html.

 

Description of the work.  The Work generally consists of bringing site utilities – including gas, water, data and fire alarm – from center of campus to new FMC site.  Bidding documents contain the full description of the Work.

 

Bids due: Sealed Bids will be received by Swinerton Management & Consulting at their office located at 1700 W. Prevailing Wage: The successful bidder shall be required to pay its workers on this project a sum not less than the general prevailing wage rate of per diem wages and not less than the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime work for work of a similar character in the locality in which the project is performed as provided under California Labor Code section 1770 et sec. The District has determined the prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for holidays and overtime work in the locality in which this project is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of work needed to execute the work.

 

Contractor shall be required to post, at each job site, a copy of such prevailing rate of per diem wages as determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF SECURITIES.  District will permit successful Bidder to substitute securities for retention monies withheld to ensure performance of Contract, as set forth in Document 00 43 45 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention), in accordance with California Public Contract Code, Section 22300.  By this reference, Document 00 43 45 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention) is incorporated in full in this Document 00 11 13.

RESTRICTIONS ON SUBSTITUTIONS AND SOLE SOURCE ITEMS.  As a limitation on Bidder's privilege to substitute “or equal” items, District has found that certain items are designated as District standards and certain items are designated to match existing items in use on a particular public improvement either completed or in the course of completion or are available from one source.  As to such items, District will not permit substitution.  Such items are described in the Bidding Documents.

Procurement of bidding documents: The District will not be a distribution point for plans. Each pre-qualified contractor may obtain three complete sets of bid documents free of charge from Elite Reprographics. Others may obtain copies of bid documents upon payment of a non-refundable fee to Elite Reprographics starting May 20, 2007  by calling 415.957.1234 Elite or through their internet website at  Request Canada College Facilities Maintenance Center Site Utility Improvements Project documents for printing.  Documents will also be available in the following Bay Area plan rooms:

A MAndatory Pre‑Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 24, 2007 in the office of Swinerton Management & Consulting at 4220 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City, CA  94061.  Prospective subcontractors and vendors are encouraged to attend.  Interested parties are advised to arrive early in order to park and obtain a parking pass from the front desk in Building 19.  Doors will be locked at 10:10 a.m
