Subject: FW: CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - Waterpoofing Project for Building 9 Library and Student Resource Center
Importance: High

Please read this message in its entirety.

PROJECT NAME:

Caņada College - Building 9 Library and Student Resource Center

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Waterproofing system being installed on the exterior terrace decks of the new library building under construction

SCHEDULE:

February 8 - until - February 28, weather permitting

Waterproofing work takes place Monday through Friday, 8am till 4pm

CAMPUS IMPACT:

The waterproofing process is the same as roofing as it is asphalt based.  It causes an asphalt odor that the wind can direct to surrounding areas.  This is very unpredictable; it is dependent upon the direction of the wind.

Please pardon the inconvenience while this roofing work is completed for the new Library/Student Resource Center.  It is important for the waterproofing to be installed for completion of the building construction.

The asphalt waterproofing material smell can be a nuisance as the smell is unpleasant, but at the levels of airborne asphalt exposure that may temporarily exist around campus, it is not harmful.  The installation waterproofing asphalt tank will be placed strategically in an attempt to control smells.  However it is not possible to completely control how the wind may blow the smell.

It is recommended to keep surrounding office windows closed during the roofing operation.  As needed, Facilities will turn off air intake fans in buildings so that the smell is not drawn into buildings.  Please keep Facilities informed if you can smell the odor inside buildings so they may take action.  The Facilities Department is responding as required, depending on weather conditions.  Keep us informed about conditions in buildings, so adjustments may be made to ventilation systems.
