CSM FIRE PUMP REPLACEMENT PROJECT- DSA INCREMENT II

Each bid must conform to and be responsive to the contract documents and be submitted on a form furnished by the District. Description of the work. The work generally consists of phasing of the replacement of the existing fire pump system with new fire pumps, incorporating pump control system, fire alarm system for fire pumps, building management control monitoring system for fire pumps, remote water tank level monitoring devices, automatic fire sprinklers in Pump Room, fuel tank for each pump, relocation of access pump room access stairs, refurbishment of pump room, temporary fire pump to maintain operation of Campus system during construction, replacement of existing CSM Campus fire hydrants, and miscellaneous related infrastructure upgrade work.
Bids due: Sealed Bids will be received by Swinerton Management & Consulting at their office located at College of San Mateo, 1700 W Hillsdale Blvd. Building 6, San Mateo, CA 94402 no later than 2:00:59 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2005. Prevailing Wage: The successful bidder shall be required to pay its workers on this project a sum not less than the general prevailing wage rate of per diem wages and not less than the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime work for work of a similar character in the locality in which the project is performed as provided under California Labor Code Section 1770 et sec. The District has determined the prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for holidays and overtime work in the locality in which this project is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of work needed to execute the work.
Contractor shall be required to post, at each job site, a copy of such prevailing rate of per diem wages as determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations.
SUBSTITUTION OF SECURITIES. District will permit successful Bidder to substitute securities for retention monies withheld to ensure performance of Contract, as set forth in Document 00680 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention), in accordance with California Public Contract Code, Section 22300. By this reference, Document 00680 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention) is incorporated in full in this Document 00100.
RESTRICTIONS ON SUBSTITUTIONS AND SOLE SOURCE ITEMS. As a limitation on Bidder's privilege to substitute “or equal” items, District has found that certain items are designated as District standards and certain items are designated to match existing items in use on a particular public improvement either completed or in the course of completion or are available from one source. As to such items, District will not permit substitution. Such items are described in the Bidding Documents.
Procurement of bidding documents: The District will not be a distribution point for plans. Plans may obtain copies of bid documents upon payment of a non-refundable fee to Elite Reprographics starting Friday, July 8, 2005 by calling 415-957-1234 or through their internet website at http://www.eliterepro.com/public.htm.
