BUILDING 8 SWING SPACE REVISIONS PROJECT
SKYLINE COLLEGE

Each bid must conform to and be responsive to the contract documents and be submitted on a form furnished by the District. Bids can only be submitted by those B licensed contractors who have been pre-qualified for projects going out to bid in Fiscal Year 04/05 as reflected on the District’s website: http://www.smccd.net/accounts/facilities/planconstruct/Skyline_NTC.html
Description of the work. The Work generally consists of Renovations to the Cosmetology Swing Space at Skyline College in the Pacific Heights Building. Bidding documents contain the full description of the Work.
Bids due: Sealed Bids will be received by Swinerton Management & Consulting at their office located at College of San Mateo, 1700 W. Hillsdale Blvd., Building 6, San Mateo, CA 94402 no later than 2:00PM, on June 9, 2005. Prevailing Wage: The successful bidder shall be required to pay its workers on this project a sum not less than the general prevailing wage rate of per diem wages and not less than the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime work for work of a similar character in the locality in which the project is performed as provided under California Labor Code section 1770 et sec. The District has determined the prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for holidays and overtime work in the locality in which this project is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of work needed to execute the work.
Contractor shall be required to post, at each job site, a copy of such prevailing rate of per diem wages as determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations.
SUBSTITUTION OF SECURITIES. District will permit successful Bidder to substitute securities for retention monies withheld to ensure performance of Contract, as set forth in Document 00680 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention), in accordance with California Public Contract Code, Section 22300. By this reference, Document 00680 (Escrow Agreement for Security Deposits in Lieu of Retention) is incorporated in full in this Document 00100.
RESTRICTIONS ON SUBSTITUTIONS AND SOLE SOURCE ITEMS. As a limitation on Bidder's privilege to substitute “or equal” items, District has found that certain items are designated as District standards and certain items are designated to match existing items in use on a particular public improvement either completed or in the course of completion or are available from one source. As to such items, District will not permit substitution. Such items are described in the Bidding Documents.
Procurement of bidding documents: The District will be a distribution point for plans. Each pre-qualified contractor may obtain two (2) complete set of bid documents free of charge from the Swinerton Management and Consulting Skyline College Site Office, located at 3300 College Drive, Building 12, San Bruno, CA 94066. Documents will be available starting May 31, 2005 or may be picked up at the Pre-Bid Conference. Documents will also be available in the following Bay Area plan rooms:

A MAndatory Pre‑Bid Conference will be held at 10:00AM on June 2, 2005 at Skyline College, Conference Room 5131, located at 3300 College Drive, Building 5, San Bruno, CA 94066. Prospective subcontractors and vendors are encouraged to attend. Interested parties are advised to arrive early in order to park and secure a parking pass. Doors will be locked at 10:15AM.
