Welcome
to your new
Career Development Center
College of San Mateo
June 30, 2006
Welcome to your newly constructed facilities! Best wishes for a smooth move-in, and we hope you’ll find your new offices and meeting spaces to be a safe, effective and inspiring learning and working environment. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to create them for you!
The construction project team has ensured that this new facility is ready for occupancy. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your new work space, please use the process outlined below so that the operations and project teams can address these expediently.
Phones and Computers: Telephones and computers have been installed and connected. If you should discover a problem please place an ITS Service Request, available at http://www.smccd.edu/ITServicesForm/, or call the ITS Help Center at extension 6543.
Doors and Locks:
The doors at CSM’s Building T1 Career Development Center have been designed to maximize security and convenience. The doors in this new facility operate using mechanical keys. The exterior doors have been outfitted with electronic locks that open automatically during operational hours, as follows:
Keys have been issued based on the approved key requests that were submitted to Facilities. If you need a key and have not already requested one, please submit a standard Key Request Form to Facilities, available at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/maintoperation/Key_Request_Form_Districtwide.pdf, and you will be issued mechanical key(s) to the spaces within the building to which you have authorized access.
If you have any questions about doors and keys, please contact the Facilities HelpCenter at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/, or call the Facilities HelpCenter at extension 6113. Please visit our FAQ about Physical Access Controls, available at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/maintoperation/KeyFAQs.htm, for everything you ever wanted to know about keys at SMCCCD.
Temperature and Indoor Air Quality: Building T1 has a stand-alone (not on the campus central plant) heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. There are 2 thermostats along the back wall, each one controlling half the space. However, the space is one large space. As such, it’s important that both thermostats be coordinated to ensure that the mechanical units act in coordination rather than in conflict with each other. Please maintain similar temperature set points on the thermostats to maintain temperature balance and occupant comfort. In the event that you require assistance, please contact the Facilities HelpCenter at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/, or call the Facilities HelpCenter at extension 6113.
Since the units provide heating and air conditioning, you can help to conserve energy by keeping the doors to the building closed while the units are in operation. The units are scheduled to run Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. If the building will not be occupied for that entire duration, please let Facilities know so that they can reprogram the schedule and save energy.
To learn more about temperature and other indoor air quality parameters, please visit our web site at http://www.smccd.net/accounts/facilities/ and view FAQs about Temperature available at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/maintoperation/TempFAQs.htm.
Furniture: The furniture installation is complete. If you discover any furniture-related issues, please contact the Facilities HelpCenter at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/, or call the Facilities HelpCenter at extension 6113.
Packing Boxes: Once you’ve unpacked your items, please flatten your empty packing boxes and place them for pick-up in the interview room. Corovan movers will return on Wednesday July 5th to pick up the boxes.
Miscellaneous Requests: Once you’ve settled in, you may find that you need something – like a piece of furniture or a white board for example – that wasn’t part of the original project scope. If you find yourself in this situation, please submit your request via the Facilities HelpCenter at http://www.smccd.edu/accounts/facilities/. In order to be responsive to all requests in a timely manner and prior to closeout of the project, we would appreciate receiving these “new occupant” requests no later than July 23, 2006.
