Matriculation
steps required for successful enrollment!
Matriculation is a
state-mandated partnership between the College of San Mateo and
the student who enrolls for credit for the purpose of developing
and realizing the student’s educational objective. The agreement
acknowledges responsibilities of both parties. A student is required
to declare an educational goal, the College is required to provide
support and services to facilitate attainment of the goal, and
the student is expected to utilize services and resources while
striving to complete a prescribed program.

MATRICULATION STEPS required for successful enrollment:

Submit
a completed Admission Application to the Office of Admissions
& Records (you can do this via the web or use the paper
application in the Schedule of Classes)

Students are required to take placement tests in English or
ESL and Mathematics. These tests are NOT entrance exams but
used for course placement purposes only.

This meeting will focus on discussion of your educational
goals and interests and your placement test results. A counselor/advisor
will help you select courses for your first semester. At the
completion of the counseling/advising session you will receive
an appointment to register for classes.

Register for classes via WebSMART and pay related enrollment
fees.Tthe FOLLOW-UP component is one that you participate
in the entire time you are a student at CSM! You will learn
more about it later in this Orientation.
It is an easy process,
BUT when you speak with a counselor/advisor you need to be able
to talk about your educational goals and interests. For information
