Attention Cañada College Students!

The Center for Student Life and Leadership is now hiring.

The Center for Student Life and Leadership is seeking a dependable, responsible, and has an outgoing personality student employee to wear the Cañada Mascot outfit for events.

The job requires you to:

  • Perform infront of an audience

  • Attend ALL Spirit Thursdays, Basketball home games, and any other events.

Compensation is $40 per event.

Mission Statement

The Center for Student Life and Leadership Development creates a learning environment outside of the classroom by:

  • Providing services, activities, and information that promote leadership development;
  • Encouraging student participation in campus life (i.e. clubs, student government, volunteer activities, events, etc); and
  • Supporting student success in leadership roles and processes.

BENCHMARKS
Leadership
-Student Life and Leadership will strive to give each student, who is part of student life, the opportunity to attend a leadership conference, retreat, and/or workshop, or enroll in leadership course.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will learn verity of leadership training skills such as team building; identify their individual strengths, and effective communication skills.

Community
-Student Life and Leadership will strive to give each student, who is part of student life, the opportunity to feel part of the campus community by attending a campus event, club or ASCC meeting and/or making friendships outside the classroom.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will learn about the campus programs, the diverse cultures on campus and become aware of the social justice needs that exist in our community and in our world.

Change
-Student Life and Leadership will strive to give each student, who is part of student life, the opportunity to make change on the campus by serving as a student representative on a campus committee, planning an educational event and/or attending a student government meeting.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will learn how to use Roberts Rules of Order to make meetings more effective and create change.

Mentorship
-Student Life and Leadership will strive to give each student, who is part of student life, the opportunity to identify their strengths, develop supporting relationships, and to understand how to keep their Student Educational Goal updated.
Student Learning Outcome: Students will learn where they can go on campus to get support in college and how they are responsible for each other’s success and retention in college.

To Join the Associated Students of Cañada College

1. Enroll in 6 units at Cañada College
2. Carry a 2.0 Cumulative GPA
3. Attend 3 ASCC meetings. Fall ASCC mtgs are Tuesdays, 3:30pm-5pm, Building 5, rm 350

To Start a Club

To register a new or existing club students will need to: 

1. You need 4 students currently enrolled at Cañada College to serve as club officers. 
2. A faculty or staff member to serve as the club advisor.
3. Complete and turn in club application.

Vending Commission

The Vending Commission is a College-based committee funded through vending machine sales. The Vending Commission provides funding for events, activities, and programs that are student focused. Each request, must target a maximum number of Cañada College Students, and take place during the 2011-2012 school year.
Application process closed and the funding has already been awarded.
This year, the Vending Commission will fund:
-Supplies in the Kinesiology and Athletics Department
-Supplies for the Men's Basketball team
-Books for the Library Reserve section
-Kursweil software in the Learning Center
-International Film Nights
-Transfer and Scholarship Ceremony
-Fall and Spring Transfer University Tours
-Acorn gathering in the Anthropology department

On-Campus Vending

Independent merchants, corporations, and non-profit organizations seeking to set up information tables, recruit students for employment, or sale approved merchandise on campus must complete a On-Campus Vendor Application to make a reservation for vending space.

  • Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance
  • Vendors may not reserve tabling space on Fridays
  • Vendors may set up as early as 9am and may stay on campus until 8pm
  • Vendors will be provided with one table and two chairs (if requested)

Vending Machine Refunds

Refunds for malfunctioning vending machines can be obtained from the Center for Student Life and Leadership during office hours.

The On-campus Posting policies apply to all student clubs and non-College affiliated organizations or individuals, looking to publicize an event or product for sale on College property.
