A Series of Workshops Are Planned for Students
Learn about conflict resolution, fundraising, and facilitation.
The Office of Student Activities has planned a series of workshops in October that will help students learn about fundraising, conflict resolution, and facilitation. All of the workshops are sponsored by the Associated Students of Cañada College.
On Friday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center will lead a Facilitation Skills Workshop for Emerging Leaders. This four-hour workshop will cover topics on improving teamwork, managing meetings, using agendas and group agreements, handling difficult people, and more. It will be held in Building 13, Room 111 and lunch will be provided.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. a workshop on "Fundraising 101" will be held in Building 3, Room 142. It will be lead by Melanie Lightstone, a development manager for JVS, a non-profit organization that assists people with barriers to employment build skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce. Gain ideas to help your club or organization raise money for activities and events. Dinner will be provided.
The final workshop will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Building 2, Room 10. The workshop will be facilitated by the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center and will focus on active listening skills, communication strategies, tips for handling difficult situations, and more.
