Tachi is 21 and has lived below the poverty line all of his life. He is a member of the Revolutionary Zapatista Collective in Mexico City who is searching for his roots. Ehe is a 52nd generation Aztec medicine man and traditional healer. Through a series of extraordinary circumstances the two meet and Tachi's life is changed forever. Beautifully shot, The Serpent and the Sun was filmed on a month-long journey through the mountainous and rural landscape of Mexico.

This riveting documentary explores cultural roots, the cult to mother Earth, and the ancestral knowledge of the Aztec tradition. A powerful visual feast that combines dreamlike panoramic landscapes with memorable characters and heartwarming stories while tracing the adventures of this unlikely duo-a shaman and his apprentice- as they travel through rural Mexico on a journey of epic proportions.
