New Student Publication Focuses on Global Affairs and International Issues
Cañada students are encouraged to submit articles.
The Cañada College U.N. Club is producing a new student publication focused on world affairs and international relations. The Global Affairs Review is an 80-page journal that will be written by Cañada College students and distributed in November.
"We are looking for student submissions," said Editor-in-Chief Matthew Marquez, a political science major at Cañada. "We are interested in articles that focus on global politics but beyond that we don't have a lot of criteria. If a student is passionate about an international political issue and wants to share his or her views with students, faculty, and staff we welcome an article."
A board of editors made up of faculty and students will review each submission, Marquez said. Marquez said Librarian Dave Patterson has agreed to work with students to help polish their final drafts.
Juan Delrio, a member of the U.N. Club, said the Global Affairs Review is just one project the club has planned for the new academic year. "This year, our events are going to focus on education in the United States," he said. "This is a hot topic with students right now because of state budget cuts. We'll be examining the importance of education in a strong democracy. We'll sponsor a series of public debates and activities for the Fall Semester around this topic."
