Cañada College Featured in ABC7 News Story on Federal Funding for Community Colleges
Obama Administration proposes $12 billion while college positions itself as a center for science, technology, engineering and math education.
Community colleges could play a key role in helping boost the ailing economy for years to come according to the Obama administration. Tuesday, the president unveiled the American Graduation Initiative, a 10-year, $12 billion plan to invest in community colleges. Obama called the investment in community colleges crucial because "jobs requiring at least an associate degree are projected to grow twice as fast as jobs requiring no college experience" in coming years. As part of the news coverage of the president's plan, ABC7 in San Francisco produced a story that featured Cañada College as a regional center for science, technology, engineering and math education. You can view the story here. Last spring, the college received $3 million in federal funding to aid science, technology, engineering and math education in the region.
