Additional Student Parking Available

Cañada will expand student parking to meet demands.

Update: Striping for 104 spaces has been completed in the lower, unpaved section of lot 6.

Additional student parking will soon be available to meet the needs of a growing student body. The unpaved area adjacent to Parking Lot 6 will be striped as soon as possible and will increase student parking by approximately 80 to 100 spaces. In addition, the lower half of Parking Lot 5 normally reserved for staff and faculty will be opened to students. This will add another 20 spaces. "We know it's inconvenient to circle the parking lots looking for an open space so we're working to solve the problem," said Cañada College President Thomas Mohr. Students are reminded that they can park along the curbs on the roads leading down to Farm Hill Blvd. and to Cañada Road. The shortage of parking is a direct result of the dramatic growth in the number of students at the college and the reduction in parking spaces related to the construction of Cañada Vista. The student population has grown nearly 14 percent compared to the same time last fall and more than 300 spots were eliminated at the Cañada Vista construction site.
