2. Jane Brody is listed in Who’s Who in America and in Contemporary Authors, among others. She was born in 1941 in N.Y., educated at Cornell University and University of Wisconsin (Madison). She has been a reporter for the Minneapolis Tribune, and currently for the New York Times. She is a prolific writer of books and articles in the health/nutrition field. Jane Brody has received many awards over the years from, among others, the American Heart Association, American Health Foundation and Princeton University.

3. New York Times health reporter, Jane Brody, has written the “bible” on good health and nutrition in The New York Times Book of Health. As she found her career in biochemistry too confining, Brody began a life’s work in the fields of diet and health. She has been a reporter editor, and hostess of a PBS series, “Good Health from Jane Brody’s Kitchen”.

In Library Journal, reviewer Kay Hogan of University of Alabama at Birmingham, calls The New York Times Book of Health, “. . . a worthy addition to most consumer health collections.” Ms. Hogan goes on to say, “ . . . the book’s aim is to clarify what’s behind the confusing and sometimes contradictory health findings”. (130) A review of this book in Publishers Weekly concludes that "some core truths emerge and balances are struck in this thorough volume." (67)

In The New York Times Book of Health, Brody, along with other New York Times reporters, have contributed current, concise information for the reader.
